the effortless espadrille

After buying these three pairs last summer, espadrilles quickly became my favorite summer shoe. This year, I added the black lace-up ones pictured above and these, which are really comfy, to my collection. Soludos is definitely the go to brand for espadrilles, but a lot of the styles above are on sale (all are between $18 – $35) and just as cute. I have my eye on the pink sandals. I love the slip on espadrilles for running around during the day and find myself wearing the lace-up ones with little summer dresses to church, or dinner or to the winery on girls night out. : ) Do you own a pair of espadrilles? Is there anything more summer than ice cream? I’ll never forget the week I spent on Kiawah Island with my family. We had ice cream every night. We tried a different creamery each night. My favorite was called Beaches and Cream. :) Above, I rounded up a few gifts for the ice cream lovers in your life. A few of these would make a cute summer birthday gift and others would be perfect for a hostess gift.

saved the best [summer dress] for last

With the temperature in the 80s and 90s this week, I’m planning on wearing all of my favorite summer dresses (like this one and this one) one more time before I put them away until next year. This dress was a recent purchase and I was hoping I would get the chance to wear it at least once before summer was over. My chance came last Sunday. I loved wearing this dress. The bright colors and pleated silhouette make it fun to wear. (Confession: I actually bought the dress in both colors – partly because I couldn’t decide which I liked better but also because I wasn’t sure what size I needed. I think my sister is glad I did though because she now owns this one:)).

Ever since I saw the movie Endless Love on Valentine’s Day I have been dreaming of replicating Jade Butterfield’s effortless summer style. I put together five different outfits that resemble her looks throughout the movie: romantic, flirty, pretty, playful, and casual. From Jade’s drop waist dresses to her grey Converse sneakers, everything she wears looks like she just threw it on on her way out the door (in a good way). It’s not quite time for summer dresses yet (at least not in Ohio) so when I visited my sister in Texas last month I took advantage of the warmer weather and paired my own pair of high tops and with a lace dress for a day of outdoor shopping. As you can tell, I am loving delicate jewelry right now. I like that you can layer a couple of bracelets and rings and the overall look still feels easy, simple, and carefree – exactly what summer should be.
