With a February birthday, I always try to keep in mind that winter is far from over when putting together a birthday wishlist. I love getting a few new things to last me through the next couple of months. Plus, winter wear is usually on sale during this time of year (like this coat). The cape and scarf on this list both look cozy and are sure to keep me warm until spring. I also like to put some of my favorite spring pieces on my birthday wishlist – the ones I’m afraid will sell out quickly (like this dress). Even though I have to wait a while to wear them, it gives me something to look forward to. When is your birthday?

Happy February! Isn’t February the best month? ;*) I am totally biased but I.love.February. Besides the fact that my birthday just happens to fall during this month, February is my favorite because of all of the pink! I don’t really believe in celebrating birthdays or holidays. Instead, I tend to celebrate months. A whole month dedicated to love? I’m in! :*) I also love that my birthday comes a few days before Valentine’s Day. After everyone showers me with love and gifts on the 11th, I get to return the favor on the 14th. : )
I got started on my valentines early this year. You might have seen this picture on Instagram a few weeks ago. These were soo easy to make! After I printed and cut them out, I hot glued a small bow on top and that was it! I also made a pink version (duh) and have a cute photo to share but I can’t show you guys just yet. (One of my reader’s Valentine’s Day gift may also be in the picture and I don’t want to spoil the surprise). Happy February!
I’ve always been a little envious (ok, more than a little) of Jennifer Aniston’s perfectly tousled waves. When I saw she added a ribbon to her ponytail last week (see below), I immediately decided I am not too old to wear ribbons in my hair as I previously thought. I began searching Pinterest for inspiration and was pleasantly surprised when I found countless “grown up” ways to incorporate a ribbon into your favorite hairstyle. I was surprised at how chic the ribbons actually look (a la Kate Middleton). Lately, I’m all about layering (sweaters, capes, scarves) mostly in an effort to stay warm. I tend to reach for neutral knits this time of year – ivory, heather grey, etc. I can’t wait to add a ribbon to my everyday look to give it an overall soft, feminine feel. Hey, if the Duchess of Cambridge is doing it… : )
What do you think of these looks? Do these photos have you searching through your ribbon drawer?

Since I missed sending Christmas cards this year : ( I am already preparing for Valentine’s Day. I put this post together last year and it was one of my favorites so I thought I would do it again. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. If you don’t have time to make homemade valentines, there are plenty of cute options out there. Don’t ask me to choose a favorite because I can’t. : )
Above are my favorite looks from last night’s Golden Globes. I loved Emma Stone’s pantsuit because it was different than what everyone else was wearing. I really liked Reese Witherspoon’s side swept hair and her dress fit her flawlessly. Quvenzhane Wallace’s dress was too perfect. She looked youthful and elegant. I think everyone loved Sienna Miller’s look. From the dress to the hair to the earrings and accessories, this look was styled to perfection and very on trend. Finally, I think my favorite dress from the Golden Globe’s was Chrissy Teigen’s. I tend to prefer light colored dresses over darker ones and any time a dress has long sleeves, it usually makes my list. (See here, here and here). Something else I love – wearing a pony tail with a dress. (Blake Lively masters this look). Which look was your favorite?

Everyone is always in a rush to take their Christmas decor down. I will probably take mine down this weekend, but it is something that I never look forward to. The house is always so warm and cozy at Christmas time and after the decorations are gone, it seems as though that warm and cozy feeling disappears too. It always looks so bare and can feel a little “cold.” So, I was thinking about what I could do to fix that. As someone who loves snow, I imagine bringing some of the magic inside to create a cozy winter wonderland.
A while back I did a post on my dream living room. I thought I would use the same major pieces of furniture (couch, chair, ottoman, end table) and add touches of gray and light blue to give the room an “icy” look. (With plenty of soft pillows and warm blankets around, it only looks “icy”). ; ) One of the reasons why I chose an ivory couch (everyone thinks I’m crazy) is because I plan on accenting my living room with different colors throughout the year (usually light pink:)). During the holidays, I added gold and silver. I have purchased some of the items above for my winter wonderland look. What do you think? Do you like this look? How do you “cope” with taking down Christmas decorations? : )
Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with those you love most! On New Year’s Eve, #theyearoftaylor was trending and since Taylor Swift is my all time favorite, it’s only fitting that I turn to her songs for some new year’s resolutions inspiration. I paired lyrics from Taylor’s songs with some quotes I had pinned on my live, laugh, learn Pinterest board. I hope these lyrics and quotes encourage you to fill your heart with whats important and be done with all the rest.

can’t believe this is what i wore… on the last day of november!
While visiting my sister in Charleston, I also visited Savannah. We decided to drive down for the day since it is just a little over two hours away. We could not have had a more gorgeous day. It was 74 degrees on the last day of November! The sun was shining; it was perfect weather. We walked around the Savannah Historic District. First, we strolled through the residential area and parks. Savannah is built around these little square parks. In each square there were people playing fetch with their dogs and sitting on park benches under the beautiful oak trees. I don’t know if it was because it was a Sunday, but it was so peaceful. After an ice cream break at Leopold’s, we made our way downtown and wandered in and out of all of the stores before heading to the waterfront. We also found the cutest store, The Paris Market. Spending the day in Savannah was the perfect way to spend a Sunday. I am so happy we went!
